Career Overview

To compete in today’s fast-paced global marketplace, you need leadership that can inspire trust and build cohesive teams. At home and abroad. Cross culturally and across divisions. In good times and in bad.

I am a proven leader with solid experience shaping global corporate communications programs from the ground up. I understand the challenges inherent in building a strong worldwide voice and all factors that can impact reputation, brand, credibility, leadership and business performance. I have lived and worked overseas and know how to manage cross-cultural teams in global environments.  My expertise and knowledge includes:
•   Communications Leadership       •   Channel Positioning
•   Strategic Planning                         •   Client Centric Operations
•   Vision/Mission Alignment           •   Market Share Improvement
•   Market Share Improvement        •   Organizational Leadership
•   Crisis/Issues Management           •   Budgeting/Case Justification
•   Brand Identity/Positioning          •   Talent Development
•   Product Positioning                      •   Talent Retention

With insight and integrity, I have developed and managed highly successful corporate communications and strategic branding programs at some of the largest and most profitable international organizations in the world, including:
As vice president of Global Corporate Branding and Communications at the 3Com Corporation, I successfully led the company’s mandate to consolidate its brand image across three distinct business units. I also developed effective communications strategies to guide 3Com through the deepest reduction in force in the company’s history.

In the 1990s, I was twice invited by Visa International to build its in-house corporate communications practice for the company’s Asia-Pacific region, as General Manager of Corporate Communications. My work overseas managing consumer, employee, member bank, industry analyst, and media relations across more than 14 countries was instrumental in helping Visa to build and maintain its media presence and corporate brand reputation above all competitors.

As a vice president at Manning, Selvage & Lee, a public relations agency that ranked among the top five global agencies in the world, I supervised PR campaigns for many brands and products, including Visa International’s worldwide sponsorship of the Olympic Games for which we won a PRSA Silver Anvil, the public relations industry’s highest honor.

Adding to the diversity of my experience I have also held leadership communications positions at Twenty First Century Marketing Group (a marketing consulting firm), Dodd, Mead & Company (publishers), and The Financial Analysts Federation (a trade association).
I reside in Northern California and have traveled often in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
